Building Age-Ready Communities, Together

We help communities prepare for, and thrive through, the demographic shift toward an older population.

Our Purpose

We exist to help communities prepare for and thrive through the demographic shift toward an older population. Aging is not a problem to solve. It’s an opportunity to design communities where everyone can thrive.

Our Vision

We envision a society where everyone can look forward to getting older, because communities are ready to support them every step of the way.

Our Mission

We provide access to physical and social activities, along with resource services, that improve the overall quality of life for older adults in our communities.

Our Values

Building relationships rooted in trust, transparency, and shared purpose.

Leading with empathy, honoring dignity, needs, and lived experiences.

Challenging norms to create forward-thinking solutions for today and tomorrow.

Grounding decisions in accurate insight and analysis.

Pursuing outcomes that make a real difference in people’s lives.

Acting with honesty, fairness, and respect in every collaboration.

Our Story

SASCC was founded in 1979 as the Saratoga Area Senior Coordinating Council, created to support older adults in the West Valley with programs that foster connection, dignity, and independence. With the opening of the Saratoga Senior Center in 1981 and the Adult Day Center in 1987, SASCC became a cornerstone of community life, offering vital resources for families navigating aging.

For decades, SASCC focused on direct services, helping older adults stay engaged, healthy, and supported. In 2017, we launched the RYDE Senior Transportation program, expanding mobility and independence for seniors across Santa Clara County. By 2019, we recognized the importance of community storytelling and transformed our senior center newsletter, The Outlook, into a hyperlocal newspaper delivered free to tens of thousands of homes, celebrating everyday community life and giving voice to older adults.

In 2024, we officially reintroduced ourselves as Successful Aging Solutions & Community Consulting (SASCC), reflecting our expanded role as both a service provider and a strategic consultant. Today, we are more than a local nonprofit. We are a model for how communities can prepare for the future of aging, advising municipalities, colleges, and healthcare systems while continuing to operate trusted community programs like the Saratoga Senior Center, Adult Care Center, RYDE, and The Outlook. From our roots as a neighborhood resource to our leadership on statewide initiatives, SASCC has always believed aging deserves a plan. Now, we are helping communities everywhere design that future.
