Want a comfortable night of fun for the whole family to enjoy? The Saratoga Parks & Recreation Commission is hosting a free movie night in El Quito Park on August 16. Kids will really enjoy the movie of the night, The Lego Movie 2. This movie night comes after two other successful movie nights, with showings of Aquaman and The Incredibles.
Looking for a night of rich culture and dance? Montalvo Arts Center is hosting its Summer Nights Series, with three nights of cultural dancing lessons and fun. August 15 is a Bollywood-inspired evening, where people can come at 6:30 p.m to learn the art of the dance, or 7:30 p.m. to just enjoy the vibrant evening. Tinny and Kashish Juneja from the Bollywood Dance Connection will be leading the evening of Bollywood and Bhangra dances. A Dohl drummer from KGS Live Indian Entertainment will be teaming up with DJ Love of Desi Jammers to create an exciting and entertaining evening for all.
Galina Moskovkina, a Bay Area fiber artist, is hosting a one-day workshop on the essence of wool painting from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on August 11. At New Museum Los Gatos, the cost is $155 for non-members, and $135 for NUMU members, plus an additional $15 materials fee. Galina will demonstrate traditional wool painting techniques with inspiration from still life. Students will be able to take home a 12x16 original creation from the workshop. The only materials required to bring are a photo frame (size 12x16) and sharp scissors.
Head over to Vasona County Park for a special event, Vasona Vibrations. There will be an acoustic open mic for all to participate in. Performers must sign up by 3:45 p.m., and will be selected using a lottery. People can come to show off their talents, or have a nice evening watching with their friends and family. The concert is free, but donations will be collected for the Second Harvest Food Bank.
For the 10th year in a row, up to 300 colorful classic and cool cars and thousands of car lovers will gather in the Saratoga Village along Big Basin Way where “Chrome meets Country” for the 10th anniversary of the Saratoga Classic and Cool Car Show.
The Saratoga Classic & Cool Car Show is gearing up to be a fun-filled day for all ages. Show car owners are encouraged to register their cars regardless of age, make or model—it just has to be cool!
